Classical Figure Sculpting / Maria Battista
Aug. 1-4 — $300 (lab fee $75 for clay, model fee TBD)
Learn to sculpt the human figure using methods of the European masters! Maria will guide you through the making of the armature, the use of a classical cannon of proportions, basic anatomy, and the use of the proper tools and techniques of modeling the form in oil-based clay. You will sculpt a 1/3-life-sized figure in a respectful, professional environment from a live nude model. From your clay you can later produce a mold and even a bronze of your work. Previous participation in the portrait class is beneficial, but not required. You will pay the instructor for clay and will share the model expense with your fellow students. A detailed supply list will be sent when you register.
Maria Battista was trained in Europe and America in both Russian and Italian methods of classical sculpting. She has been sculpting the human form in bronze and stone for 23 years and she has 30+ years of licensed professional teaching experience with students of all ages.
