Classes are designed for school-aged children. Younger children are welcome with an adult caregiver. All materials are supplied by LVSA. Scholarships are available thanks to funding from private donations from friends and supporters of LVSA. La Veta School of the Arts does not discriminate in any way.

Collage Creations
Come learn about color, design and composition through the magic of collage with Rena Kaplowitz. Kids of all ages can create beautiful works of art using paper, fabric, found objects and glue.

Painting Together
Join Jill Schwarz in a fun collaborative experience for children and their parents/grandparents. We will use big brushes and bold colors to create shared abstract paintings on stretched canvas...just in time for Father's Day!

Jewelry Making

Make beautiful jewelry yourself! Mary Cooper will share tips for jewelry making that she uses professionally. Each student will be able to make their own jewelry, choosing from a wide variety of colorful beads in all shapes and sizes.

Tie Dye

Learn the colorful art of Tie Dye. Two T-shirts, banner or flag material and instruction will be provided by Patti Kiehne. Each student may also bring a couple of 100% cotton items from home to dye. This is a fun way to explore color and design. And the end result is wearable art!

Fusing Glass
Learn to make fused glass creations with Jill Whitmore. Using small pieces of glass, students will blend color and shape to transform layers of glass into works of art. Pieces will be fired in a kiln overnight and may be picked up the next day. Let your imaginations fly! (Ages 11+ suggested)

Paint Yourself
Draw life-sized body outlines, then use paint to fill in the rest of the story. Linda Frederick will encourage students to use a wide variety of techniques and strategies for unique self reflection in their finished work.

Clay For All
Use your hands to create clay works of art! Meet at the Pinon Clay Studio Gallery, 221 N. Main Street. Nicole Copel will introduce students to different ways of shaping, molding and building with clay. Extra time will be scheduled the following week to decorate artwork after the kilning process.
